Domaine des Tourelles, Domaine des Tourelles, 2008

| Value for money:

This is an entry level wine but it is still holding up nearly five years on. The nose is all Cab but in the mouth the sweet silky Syrah is the grape that rules the roost. As I said, it's getting on a bit but I loved that slightly evolved style. Brilliant. Am told the Marquis de Beys is worth a try. let's see. Happy New Year Mike!. Rate: 90 [+]

Although the 2007 vintage was among my favorite lebanese wines, the 2009 does not come up to the same standard. Its attack is rougher, structure less elaborate and thinner in terms of layering, while thicker in terms of roughness. The length is average. But why couldn't enough consistency be maintained. I say this with sadness because MdB was a serious world class wine which is now back in the average midstream. By the way why wasn't there a 2008 vintage ( same feelings and question apply to the marvelous Syrah du Liban 06 which did not make it in 07 or 09).. Rate: 80 [+]
