The buccaneering Serge Hochar planted the Lebanese flag on the wine map in the late 70s and hasn’t looked back. Mention his name to most Lebanese and they will say ‘Who?’ And yet Hochar has been called a genius and his wines – heady reds, trippy whites and chocolatey rosés – an enigma. The late Auberon Waugh, one of the most respected British wine writers of the last 50 years, called Château Musar one of the ‘great wines of the world’.

Château Musar, Château, 2003

had this with lunch the other day at a restaurant in Beirut. Chose it because price was good for a chateau around LL60,000. Mr friend and I had two bottles. Great musar taste...lots of fruit. The waiter decanted it which helped. always like Musar!. Rate: 89 [+]
